Students studying abroad needed a reliable way to find qualified tutors for any subject and any grade level — and the operations team needed visibility over every tutor, booking, and payment running through the platform.
The challenge
Students based overseas had no single place to find tutors matched to their subject and class level. Finding help meant working across scattered listings, informal referrals, and messaging apps — with no way to verify a tutor's suitability before committing.
Once a tutor was found, everything after that point was manual. Payment happened off-platform, lesson continuity depended on both sides remembering to schedule, and conversations lived in personal chat threads with no record.
For the operations team, this was the harder problem. With activity spread across channels, there was no reliable view of which tutors were active, which students were being served, or where payments stood.
The surfaces we shipped
Subject & class-level coverage
Tutors are organised by subject and grade level, so a student can find a specialist for their exact requirement rather than a general match.
Direct hiring flow
Students review available tutors and hire without back-and-forth coordination — the booking, confirmation, and start of lessons happen in one path.
Integrated payments
Payment sits inside the platform rather than off to the side, keeping the transaction tied to the booking it belongs to and visible in admin records.
Student–tutor messaging
Built-in chat keeps lesson coordination on the platform, so scheduling and follow-ups stay attached to the engagement instead of scattering across personal apps.
Continuous engagements
Lessons continue across sessions rather than resetting each time, so a student keeps the same tutor and the relationship carries forward.
Full admin control
A comprehensive admin portal covering tutors, subjects, classes, students, bookings, payments, and conversations — the operational backbone of the platform.
What we built
We built a two-sided platform. On the student side: browse tutors by subject and class level, see who is available, hire directly, pay through the platform, and message the tutor to keep lessons running — all in one continuous flow.
On the admin side: complete operational control. Every tutor, subject, class level, student, booking, payment, and conversation is visible and manageable from a single portal. Nothing happens on the platform that admin cannot see or intervene in.
The two sides were designed together rather than bolted on, so a student action — a booking, a payment, a message — surfaces in the admin view immediately and in context.
